The most interesting part is how New Brighton is being promoted to all the participants and visitors to this event and the promo material around the national champs has this to say…
“New Brighton ticks a lot of boxes for a day out and about.
“Family Fun at New Brighton Playground Grab the kids and head down to the New Brighton Playground and Splash Park on Marine Parade. With views of the iconic New Brighton Pier in the background, this special playground is the perfect way to keep the kids busy! New Brighton Seaside Market Life is good by the sea!
“The lively New Brighton Seaside Market is a staple community event held every Saturday from 10am to 2pm. The New Brighton pedestrian mall fills with stalls and market goers with a warm and colourful environment filled with creativity.
“A Round’a Golf at Rawhiti Golf Course What better way to get outside and enjoy the peace and quiet than improving your swing at the local golf course. The Rawhiti Golf Course is a great course for beginners and expert golfers alike. With options of premier, one-off or social play, Rawhiti offers one of the most affordable rates in town.

The New Brighton Residents Association believes we are under-selling ourselves and there an urgent need for a link to much more than is currently presented courtesy of Christchurch NZ.
Unfortunately, one of the six great experiences referred to, the hot pools is currently closed for refurbishment.
The good news is RENEW and New Brighton On-line are working towards a co ordinated approach to presenting information along the lines of ‘Destination New Brighton’.
RENEW manager Laila Jansone says they are working hard to provide physical information via a drop-in public space like St Faiths Church and an on-line link through ChristchurchNZ and ultimately the NZ Tourism website
She says there is still a lot of work to do and there are big gaps to be filled for instance the lack of short term accommodation in the area along with family restaurants.
The New Brighton Residents Assn says there is a big opportunity for developers to fill this gap as we continue to host these sorts of major events, and increasing number of permanent residents moving into the coastal space.
