The Te Pākau Maru housing development destined for New Brighton’s Beresford Street has reached a major milestone with Stage One getting underway last week. Travelers along Beresford Street will see the site has been cleared for foundation works to begin in the coming weeks.
Located at 37 Beresford Street, adjacent to the New Brighton Medical Centre, Stage 1 is 25 mixed tenure homes, inclusive of progressive home ownership, build to rent, affordable rentals and market sales. These homes range between 2, 3 and 4 bedrooms and there are options of low-maintenance sun-soaked decks and backyard gardens.
The Home Foundation have secured 5 of the first 25 homes to be available for Progressive Home Ownership. You can learn more about the PHO scheme here: https://www.tat.org.nz/progressive-homeowners-scheme
Kāinga Maha General Manager Annie Wilson says what makes this housing project different is the collective desire of many people coming together to provide options for people to get into quality housing at a price they can afford.
“Everyone should have the opportunity to experience quality housing, which is why we are offering a broader range of ways people can make these homes their own either through outright purchase, progressive home ownership or renting.”
Another important aspect to Te Pākau Maru is the fact the design will be to Homestar 7 standards instead of just minimum building code requirements. Meaning in simple terms, a much healthier and more sustainable level of living that is independently certified. An item of note being that each home comes with a heat recovery ventilation system, that filters fresh air throughout the homes for year-round comfort.
Located near a main bus transport hub and there are options for EV enabled off street carparking. An added plus is there is storage for all those extra essentials, like bikes or surfboards under the first floor.
The first stage off the drawing board is adjacent to the New Brighton Medical Centre, directly behind the bus stops.
Stage 1 comprises of 25 townhouses with a mixture of 2, 3, and 4 bedrooms, the latter two being two and a half storeys.
The stage one build is expected to be completed in about 12 months.
While all 25 of the homes in Stage 1 are currently under contract, Kāinga Maha is seeking expressions of interest for those looking to purchase in Stage 2. Register your interest to be the first to know release dates.
