If you want proof about NEW BRIGHTON being the place to buy place to live, then you only need to look at Grant McKinnon’s SEAVIEW development.
Eleven of the 14 townhouses of Stage One and Stage Two have sold or under offer. There will be 74 all up.
This means the design for stages 3 and 4 are now well advanced, and there could be activity on site before the end of the year if consents can be cleared from Council. The area closest to the Roy Stokes Hall and will be first to see work and completed stages along with the reserve.
The interesting and encouraging signs from sales so far are:
No “locals” have bought in so far, most of the purchasers are “outsiders” and while you can have a garage built into design, some have opted not to.
Secondly the breakdown of buyers indicates three main groups:
• Single women attracted by the security of a community development.
• Investors liking the location and New Brighton potential.
• Young couples.
• The biggest demand is for two bedrooms
Developer Grant MacKinnon says this is encouraging as the dynamics of the New Brighton population is starting to change.
He says the changes around lending have had a slight dampening effect with at least two first home buyers being ruled out due to tighter loan restrictions, but overall, the days of a sleepy sea-side suburb are over.
New Brighton is sliding up the scale of desirability.
Stage three will be completed by a different architect to give variety to the style of SEAVIEW. These will feature two and three bedrooms.
