The mindless scribble over New Brighton’s classic ‘Our Bright Town’ mural in the heart of the New Brighton Pedestrian Mall suggests the perpetrators badly need to attend art classes.
A year or two ago the New Brighton Project engaged with local artist Jeremy Sauzier to create this art work and it is not just a mural, as it includes 172 shadows of locals and a bird symbolising our wonderful and diverse hapori (community).
Ther bird reflects the achievements of the late Evan Smith, champion of the Avon-Ōtākaro Network.
Hopefully Mr Sauzier is still around to show the numbskulls the meaning of creativity and what you can do with a trained spray can.
