Despite the Covid Lockdown, many of the local schools are encouraging kindness at home and everybody stay safe. With the Delta variant changing the rules and extending its threat to younger people, it has put more pressure on schools to proceed with care.
We talk about how great it is living in the Coastal area, and highlight the scenery of the wetlands and sea, but forget about the schools.
New Brighton Residents Association Chair Celeste Donovan says people keep telling her the area is blessed with really good primary, intermediate and secondary schools and we should highlight some of them.
With a roll of 570 is Queenspark, and while I could not visit the school was able to get some information from spokesperson Rebecca Taylor. She says Queenspark caters from Year one to eight and puts a lot of emphasis on culture and values.
(This is a reminder of why the Crusaders rugby team perform so well with team culture coming before the game).
Ms Donovan says in my day the three R’s were wRiting, Reading and arithmetic, but at Queenspark it is being Respectful, Responsible and Resolute.
Rebecca Taylor says the photos show what a diverse range of activities it offers and some recent 2021 performances and the evolution of Queenspark in providing much more than a standard education.
Below are some photos provided by Rebecca and include Principal Ross Willocks with two of the pupils.
The primary school is located in Queenspark Drive, Parklands.
