New Brighton Residents Association have broken this Facebook post into THREE separate posts, so “our opinion” is not too long and convoluted around the LONG-TERM-PLAN 2021-2031.
Note the images below are taken from the NEW BRIGHTON MASTER PLAN, and serve as a conceptual guide to the shape of this suburb going forward, based very much on the input of many stake-holders including residents and retailers a few years back. It won’t be exact, but much of its themes and aims will be the basis for the projects in the Long-Term-Plan.
First post is about MAKING A SUBMISSION, second is more clarity around LOCAL PROJECTS and third pertaining to the NEW BRIGHTON MASTER PLAN.
New Brighton Residents Association has many questions from our locals and it seems in our view:
- You have a choice of reading the whole Long Term Plan and making statements about overall strategies relating to rates, roads, parks, water etc..
- Curbing your submissions and views to the immediate area you live in.
Exactly what the City Council wants to hear from rate-payers and residents about the Long-Term-Plan is as clear as mud, but generally NBRA advises not to over-think your response, just a one line support for the overall draft Long-Term-Plan as it relates to New Brighton, will do at this stage.
As the New Brighton Residents Association covers the central area, we will focus on the:
Three LTP funding projects:
New Brighton Public Spaces
Total 10 year spend: $14,787,349 Funding starts: 2022 Funding ends: 2029
New Brighton Roading & Transport
Total 10 year spend: $1,814,272 Funding starts: 2022 Funding ends: 2022
Pages Rd Bridge Renewal
Total 10 year spend: $20,696,791 Funding starts: 2022 Funding ends: 2025
If you go on-line and click on the “submissions” tab there appears to be little connection between the information requested and the actual projects.
Therefore scroll down and unload your on-line New Brighton opinion in the “Any other comments ?” section.
The City Council’s guide to your feedback is: “We want you to have a say on what we should focus on. Have we got it right? “
In other words dont be too concerned about the lack of detail. A lot of money is going to be spent on these coastal projects, and give the LTP concerning the above projects, a big thumbs up.
To put it into perspective for us sea-siders:
There are nine suburban centre masterplans across the city and…
NEW BRIGHTON HAS GOT 70% OF THE TOTAL SUBURBAN MASTER-PLAN CAPITAL BUDGET FOR THE WHOLE CITY.
