The New Brighton Residents Association will be holding a meeting early next week on the ‘Long Term Plan’ for Christchurch for the next ten years, so come along.
In a nutshell, the City Council is proposing a $13.1 billion dollar budget to cover its spend over that period, and the reason is to give some certainty about the direction of the city, and it will have an impact on every individual in one way or the other.
For those less likely to be seeking information on-line, this event is a chance to hear from our guest speaker and Engagement Manager from the City Council Katy McRae, coming out to the Penguin Arms at 6.30pm on Monday 22nd March.
Katy will talk about the ‘Long Term Plan’ in general terms and provide information for you to take away and mull over between now and April 18th, the deadline for making a submission of your view, opinion, suggestions.
Remember, she will NOT have answers for why specific funding is allocated to specific projects, those questions can be directed to the Coastal Community Board representatives down at New Brighton Market on Saturday the 27th March.
As far as New Brighton is concerned, the NBRA featured a few of these proposed LTP projects in our area in an earlier Face-Book post (scroll down), and you can also find these on-line. Katy will be able to direct you to those areas you are interested in.
Stick your dinner on ‘warm’, and get down the venue opposite the Library, and as we have our monthly meeting after the speaking event, and we would love to have more supporters or committee members.
(At the moment we are looking for help to do some of the on-line applications for funding, as it can be a bit time consuming for the current voluntary members already tied up with work and other projects).
For those unfamiliar with the Penguin Arms, the bar opposite the library, plenty of parking in Beresford St.
