It was another one of those fine late Autumn Saturday around New Brighton where there is always something on somewhere. With its menu of activities to watch or do and chat and eat or ride or walk and enjoy, it continues to rate as the best place to be.
The famous madcap Pirate band livened proceedings at the foreshore Mall end where they can often be heard playing uplifting toe tap music, not far from fab food trucks dishing out food wafting alluring smells to tempt passers-by.
A few minutes away was the Rawhiti Cross country for all age groups and impressive showings from members of running clubs around Christchurch with runners of all ages from as far away as Queenstown.
Next door the Archery Club arrows from Robin Hoods were thudding into hitting bulls-eyes with regular consistency and a couple of hundred metres eastwards, the New Brighton rugger team displayed just enough skill to win over the enterprising University team.
A nice way to unwind the end of the week.
